It's almost here!!!

I cannot believe that 9 months has gone so fast. I still feel like I just proposed to Alison a few days ago out in Seattle. The wedding is now only 5 days away. It has been a crazy few months with all of the planning that has been happening. Luckily Alison and I are both pretty laid back so there weren't too many tense moments. I keep telling people that I am waiting for all of the stress to hit and it hasn't yet. I just hope that continues through the week.

I wish I could put into words how excited I am to get married to Alison. She is the most beautiful person inside and out and I have been dreaming of this day for a long time. Many of you know our relationship first hand but for those of you who don't, I can only say that she is the woman of my dreams and there is some unique chemistry that binds us.

I know that most of you are traveling from out of town so please be safe. I will keep all of you in my prayers so that you may have very safe and traffic-free travels. Hear that God?

I doubt I will get the chance to update the blog before Saturday so thanks for tuning in through the process and I will see you all in a few short days!

Love,
Aaron

Making Progress

Hey Everyone,

I haven't written lately so I figured it was time to update the wedding blog. I am sure all of you have been feverishly checking every single day to see what we are posting. I know I do. So here it is:

Alison and I have been very busy lately. We just found a new house to rent so we have to move very soon. That is a little stressful but we wanted to get it out of the way so we can come back from the honeymoon and relax. Maybe we can post some pictures of it so you all can see.

Secondly, we are gearing up to make a long drive up to Cincinnati to see some of you on my side of the family. (my mom and sister are throwing Alison another wedding shower!) I'm not going to lie, I am excited about the gifts :)

Thirdly, I am trying to get the LImo booked for the wedding. I have never done that before and had no idea how expensive it is. I mean really, they must be making some bank on that scam. I think I need to buy a Limo and start driving people around. I wish I knew of a guy that knows a guy that owns a Limo. Just don't be suprised if we have to ride off into the sunset on our Huffy.

Hmmmm, other than the normal wedding craziness I think that's about it. I guess I will let everyone know how it all goes down in a couple weeks.

Till then, keep on keepin on,

Aaron

Wedding Shower

Dear Wedding Blog,

It's almost the end of March so I decided that I need to post. Last weekend two of my bridesmaids and one of my honorary bridesmaids threw me my first wedding shower! I'll have to say that I was very anxious about the shower because I wanted all of my friends to show up and have fun and I wanted to make sure that I didn't look completely AWKWARD opening presents in front of a room full of women. As it turned out, there aren't many more things more fun than a bridal shower! There was lots of yummy food and all of my favorite people from Charlotte, and some from out of town, came. I got some really great gifts and was reminded of all the stuff we registered for months and months ago. Thank you to everyone who came and you'll all be getting personalized thank you cards from yours truly.

P.S My mom had REALLY GREAT time, if you can't tell by the picture.
xoxo,
Alison

The State

Very soon Alison and I will be featured in the Columbia, SC newspaper known as The State. The above picture is one from our engagement session. We decided that since we both looked smokin hot that we would use that photo for the newspaper. I just feel sorry for all of the other couples that will be overshadowed by us.

Photo Shoot

Dear wedding blog,

Have you ever heard of Craig's List? Aaron and I are thinking that we need to give Craig's List a mention in our program or something because we use Craig's List ALL THE TIME. Let's see...we found our photographers from there, we got Red Hot Chili Pepper tickets from there, I found my apt there, Aaron got his job from a posting on Craig's List...and the list goes on. In short, Craig's List is the bomb. So one day Aaron was perusing Craig's List and he read a posting about a young photographer offering her photogging services for free to a young, newly engaged couple and in exchange she would be allowed to put our pictures up on her site so she would have more for her portfolio. Well, we being a young, newly engaged couple (and we think we're very very good looking) decided to offer up ourselves. Well we never heard back from her, we were sad. But then....one day she emailed us back!!!! So we set up a day and time to meet Uptown and do a photo shoot. We had to look urban and chic, and we walked around Uptown for a couple hours taking random shots. I'll have to admit I was a little nervous and stiff for the first few minutes of the shoot. I always thought that I should be famous and have the stalkerazzi following me, but now I'm having second thoughts. I was very self consious of what she and others were thinking of me, but Aaron helped me calm down. He was a ham in front of the camera, enjoying every minute of it. We really liked her and we would recommend her to all of our friends and family! Her name is Amy Martin and you can check out her site at www.amymartinphoto.com. Alright, good night blog.

xoxo,
Alison

The Long Awaited, Much Requested... Hotel Info

The weekend of the wedding is the big NASCAR Race weekend. This means that a majority of the hotels will be, and have already, been booked. One hotel rep in the area actually asked us if we could change the date! Yeah right...

To alleviate some of the frustration for our out-of-town guests we have blocked out 20 rooms at the Hilton Charlotte Executive Park. They even misquoted us and we got a huge discount. They just went through a 3 million dollar renovation so the entire place is top notch. Here are a few pictures and the reservation information is below them.

The rate for May 25th and 26th is $139.00/nt (normally $339.00!)
• You may reserve a room with a King size bed or 2 Queens.
• The rate extends 3 days prior-to and after those days, if you choose to stay longer
• They provide free transportation to and from the airport if you are flying in
• There is a very nice pool so bring your swimming attire
• You must reserve your room before April 25th to get the discounted rate

Rooms will go quickly so book them ASAP!

To make a reservation call 1-704-527-8000 or 1-800-HILTONS and ask for the Williams/Shurts wedding rooms.

If you have any problems whatsoever, let us know and we can make sure you have the accomodations you need from the Hilton.

Did Somebody Say Flowers?

So, I guess Alison and I are supposed to be going to several florists this coming weekend and looking at floral arrangements for the wedding and reception. The crazy part about all of this is that I know more about flowers than Alison does. In fact, I don't even know if she has ever even purchased a flower and we have to outfit an entire wedding here people. Now, I say I know more about flowers than she does but that does not mean I am a flower connoisseur by any means. I know just about 10 percent more than she does so with our knowledge combined I think we know close to nothing about them.

Now, ask me about weeds and I can tell you many details. Growing up it was always my job to pull the weeds out of the over 80 flower beds in our football field of a yard. All the Cincinnatians know what I am speaking of. Anyway, I guess Alison and I will be doing some research to try and find out what we plan to do, before we try to talk to Bruce the florist and he tells us that we are less than fabulouuus.

If anyone has a suggestion leave us a comment.

For now... Buenos Dias.
